What is The Difference Between an Obstetrician and a Gynaecologist?
The First and foremost thing to understand is that all the doctors dealing with women’s issues, be it childbirth-related or diseases affecting the female reproductive system like infections , bleeding problems, hormonal issues, cancers etc, are trained and qualified obstetrician and gynaecologist. Subsequently doctor by her or his own choice can practice both or practice only obstetrics or only gynaecology.
An obstetrician is a doctor who deals with pregnancy, childbirth, and related problems. Gynaecologist, on the other hand, deals with the conditions affecting female reproductive health and systems like hormonal problems, abnormal vaginal bleeding, tumours of uterus or ovaries, cancers, problems related to menopause, adolescent health, infections, breast-related problems, infertility etc.
