Menopause: When To Seek Help of An Experienced Gynaecologist
July 26, 2022Gynaecologist

Menopause marks the end of your menstrual cycle. It is diagnosed after you complete 12 months since your last period. Generally, this occurs with women between the ages of 45 to 55. It is important to note that menopause is not a health problem. In fact, for some, it is a time of freedom. However, the hormonal changes that accompany this process may cause some discomfort.

Signs and Symptoms

  • Hot Flashes

Hot flashes are common around the time of menopause. They cause a person to feel a sudden sensation of heat in the upper body. They can also cause sweating or red patches to form on the skin.  Some women may experience night sweats and cold flashes, or chills, in addition to or instead of hot flashes.

  • Irregular Menstruation

As your menopause approaches, menstrual cycles may appear less frequently or more frequently. They can also be heavier or lighter than usual. Anyone concerned about their menstrual cycle can consult a Lady Gynaecologist Surgeon in Delhi if you are in the vicinity.

  • Vaginal Dryness or Discomfort

Vaginal dryness, itching, and discomfort may start during menopause and continue after menopause. A woman with this symptom may experience discomfort during vaginal sex. Also, it causes a higher risk of infections.

Other symptoms involve thinning, drying, inflammation of the vaginal wall, etc.

  • Sleep Disturbances

Sleep problems can arise during menopause, and women may start experiencing anxiety, night sweats, and an increased need to urinate. Getting plenty of physical activity and avoiding heavy meals before bedtime can help with managing these issues, but if they persist, feel free to contact your Gynecologist

  • Physical and Emotional Changes

Various physical changes can develop around the time of menopause.

Women may experience a buildup of fat around the abdomen, weight gain

changes in hair color, texture, volume, breast reduction, and tenderness etc. Along with this, many emotional changes such as depression, anxiety, mood swings are common during menopause.

  • When To See a Doctor?

Many women ignore symptoms due to social taboos or even denial. However, you can seek treatment simply by keeping up with routine checkups and speaking with your Gynaecologist about your symptoms and concerns. The best gynaecologist will likely advise several preventive screening procedures, such as colonoscopy and mammography. You must consult a Gynaecologist Surgeon if you experience vaginal bleeding after menopause. Doctors may also be able to assist with some of the long-term side effects, such as weight gain, sexual dysfunction etc. Remember your health and comfort hold the highest value while going through or even after menopause and there is absolutely no harm in consulting a doctor to help you with your concerns.
